Kormi Helps You Decide

Kormi, the night watch of the shop window

Once again, he decides so you don’t have to

Kormi tells you what to do

Think of a question with a yes or no answer. Press the button and he’ll tell you.

It’s quiet in here. Think of a question before you press the button.

The answer is not binding, and wouldn’t hold up in court. Oh, and don’t ask ten times in a row, Kormi concentrates on one decision at a time. Come back when you have a new question!

Wait, what is all this?

Two cats, Totó and Rozi, live in a shop window in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. They don’t do any work. They lie there, now and then glance at passers-by, and that’s it.

Their devoted “mum” has spent almost a year on the rough side of the job market. She could write a book about how not to get invited to interviews, despite being wildly creative and speaking at conferences. (She is writing a book, actually. About something else.)

So, with no steady income for about a year, the family council decided the cats should join the game called making a living, with everyone putting their best assets to work. The human brings her marketable but underused skill set. The cats bring professional loafing and a talent for dispensing opinions.

That is where all this came from: this website, the quiz, the tuna sponsorship. It is not a save-us campaign, more of an “open your wallet when something made you smile” kind of deal. If that’s not enough for you, you can also offer the human a job or a collaboration, by the way.

What is there to know about Kormi?

Technically Kormi doesn’t belong to Rozi and Totó’s human, but to the owner of the buildings on Károly János Street. Since he was little, he has built himself a close-knit community in the shop units here and in the Pince Borozó (a local wine bar), people who feed him and look after him, and of course his own human does everything for him too.

When the new cats moved in behind the glass, he could hardly stop himself from joining the cheerful crew. So he was given subcontractor status, and in summer he mostly sat on the steps on the other side of the window. As the weather gets cooler, he asks to be let in more and more often, and is slowly making friends with the others.

He also needs to keep making the rounds of his old haunts. That life experience is the basis for how he can help with your decisions too.
